Rev. J. Todd Chancey was appointed to Kingston United Methodist Church in July of 2012. He is a Provisional Elder of the United Methodist Church under the appointment of Bishop Mary Virginia Taylor – the Presiding Bishop of the Holston Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Todd’s background includes a BS Degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA. In his early career he served large mega churches as a Certified United Methodist Church Business Administration. He answered the call to ministry in 2004, received his Master of Divinity (equivalent) through the Advanced Course of Study at Candler School of Theology, Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 2014.
Todd and his wife Liz have been married for 34 years and have two adult children, two wonderful son-in-laws and one adorable granddaughter. Todd and Liz love life and enjoy fellowship with the church family.
Sue Lynn Johnson, Minister of Congregational Care
Sue Lynn is a United Methodist Deacon in Full Connection having been ordained in 1998. She has served churches in North Georgia and Holston Annual Conferences since 1982. On November 1, 2015, Sue Lynn will begin her 25th year of ministry with Kingston United Methodist Church. Sue Lynn is a graduate of MTSU with a BS in Home Economics Education and Scarritt College with an MS in Christian Education. She and her husband Jerry have one son, JD Johnson.
Jennifer Shelton, Director of Family Ministries
Jennifer Shelton is directly involved in the children’s ministry, youth ministry, Early Start ministry, and various other aspects of family ministry within the Kingston congregation. Jennifer was raised in the Methodist church and actively engaged in youth activities such as Wesley Woods Camp, Resurrection, and Chrysalis. While a student at Lee University, Jennifer met and married Andrew Shelton. After graduating, Jennifer and Andrew moved back to the Knoxville area. The Shelton’s are blessed with two bubbly children, William (3yrs old) and Hannah (1yrs old). As director of family ministries, Jennifer strives to connect children and youth to their parents while working with the inter-generational family to focus on faith. When she is not at the Early Start with our preschoolers, at AGC or Bible School with our elementary students, at exciting youth events with our middle and high school students, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her own children and family and keeping up with Tennessee sports! She always aims to be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus to those around her. Romans 12:12, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, constant in prayer.”
Becca Fisher is the Director of the Adult Choir and Hand Chimes. She is also the church organist and pianist. Becca attended Cumberland College, in Lebanon, Tn. and has a degree in music. Becca is married to Rev. Ron Fisher, who is a United Methodist Pastor in the Holston Conference. Becca and Ron have a son, Caleb and a daughter Olivia. Becca has always loved music and uses her musical talents to glorify God.
Kay grew up in Harriman, TN and attended Harriman High School. Kay has been married to her husband Vernon for 35 years. Together they have two children, Brittany and Trenton. She is blessed with one grandson, 4 year old Landon. In April of 2013, Kay became a part of the KUMC church staff. She feels beyond blessed to be a part of this ministry and church. She loves to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the people of our community and beyond!
Debbie Woody, office administrator, has lived in Roane County since 1998. After 26 years in the corporate world at Fairfield Communities, she began her work at Luminary UMC in 2001 and moved to KUMC in 2004. Time off work usually consists of doing fun things outdoors with her family. She feels very blessed to be part of the KUMC family.
